Confidence Spells

on

Hey witches!

Today I want to talk about confidence, not just in magic, but in everyday life. I don’t know about you, but I know my lack of confidence sometimes holds me back in life. It takes a lot of confidence to put yourself out there, try new things and go for your dreams and goals. Sometimes, we just don’t have that self-belief.

Lets be honest, there plenty of stuff that happens everyday to knock our confidence: a work presentation doesn’t go as well as we liked, we burned the dinner, or someone beeped at us for not pulling away fast enough at the lights. These little incidences chip away at our self-esteem until we begin to feel like we can’t do anything right! Add to this the super-shiny perfect images we see on social media and adverts and we can soon begin to feel like we are failing.

And while everyday life can eat away at our confidence, there are precious few things that boost our self-belief. If we are lucky, we have supportive people around us who act as cheerleaders, celebrating our successes with us. But we don’t always act as cheerleaders for ourselves. It’s all to easy to gloss over our successes and focus on our perceived flaws.

Luckily, our magical practice can help boost our confidence. Many magical practices, such as affirmations and visualisation have been proven to increase our chances of success. We can also draw on spells and rituals to change our mindset, call in some divine intervention and weave some magical confidence into our lives.

In this post I’m going to offer a few magical ways to boost our confidence and self-esteem. Whether you only have time for a quick spell before an important meeting or you want to dive deep into shadow work to uncover what beliefs are affecting your confidence, I hope this post will help.

Simple Confidence Spell

This spell provides a quick and easy confidence boost whenever you need one.

For this spell you will need

  • A small mirror
  • A candle (preferably yellow or gold, but white works too)
  • A piece of paper and a pen
  • A small pouch or piece of fabric (optional)

Here’s what to do

  1. Choose a time when you can be alone and undisturbed. Light the candle and place the mirror in front of you. Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to centre yourself.
  2. On the piece of paper, write down a confidence affirmation. This could be something like, “I am powerful, capable and confident,” or anything that resonates with you.
  3. Look into the mirror, gazing at your reflection, hold the affirmation in your mind. Feel the energy of the words building within you.
  4. Repeat your affirmation out loud three times, with conviction. Now close your eyes and imagine a golden light surrounding you, filling you with strength and self-assurance.
  5. After saying your affirmation, hold the mirror in your hands. Close your eyes and visualise the mirror absorbing the golden light, becoming a reservoir of confidence that you can tap into whenever you need. Allow some of the light to remain around you to surround you with confidence.
  6. Fold the paper and, if you have a pouch, place it inside. Keep the mirror and affirmation close to you (in your bag, pocket, or on your altar) to remind you of your inner strength.
  7. To close the ritual, thank the candle’s flame for its guidance and then gently blow it out or let it burn down if you are able to stay with it.

Whenever you need a boost of confidence, take a moment to look into the mirror and repeat your affirmation.

Enchantment for confidence spell

The following enchantment is specifically designed for infusing personal items with confidence-boosting energy. This spell works particularly well with perfume, jewellery, or any item worn close to the heart or pulse points.

For this spell you will need

  • Your chosen item (perfume bottle, piece of jewellery, etc.)
  • 1 clear quartz crystal
  • 1 citrine crystal
  • 1 tigers eye crystal
  • 1 yellow candle
  • 1 orange candle
  • Incense cone

If you can, perform this confidence spell during a waxing moon, or on a Sunday or Tuesday. You can use any crystals associated with confidence for this confidence spell. If you do not have crystals use any item that makes you feel confident such as star shaped ornaments, certificates, or tools of your trade. Alternatively, you can use a sprinkling of cinnamon and rosemary instead of the crystals.

Here’s what to do

Cleanse your space in your usual way.

Place your chosen item in the centre of your altar space and arrange the crystals or alternatives around it. Place the yellow candle at the north and the orange candle at the south points of your working space. Place your incense cone in its holder and set it behind your chosen item.

Light the incense cone, then light the yellow candle, saying: “I kindle the flame of inner light, that burns within me, strong and bright.”

Next, light the orange candle, saying: “I ignite the spark of confidence true, that flows through all I say and do.”

Hold your item in your dominant hand, and pass it through the smoke of burning incense, while chanting three times: “By earth, fire, and herbs so bright, I weave this charm in sacred light. Confidence rises, calm and clear, flowing through me, always near. As I wear this, let it shine, centered, strong, and truly mine.”.”

Visualise golden light flowing from the crystals into your chosen item. Once it is glowing brightly in your mind’s eye, seal the enchantment by saying: “With every breath and step I take, my inner power does now awake!”

Each time you wear or use the enchanted item, touch it gently and whisper: “Confidence awakens, power flows, my inner strength now blooms and grows.

Confidence Ritual

This is a more in depth ritual which includes some shadow work to help your uncover any unconscious beliefs that are limiting your sense of confidence and self esteem.

For this ritual you will need

  • A black candle (for shadow work)
  • A white or yellow candle (for confidence and empowerment)
  • A journal and pen
  • A piece of smoky quartz, obsidian, or amethyst (optional, for grounding and protection)
  • A comfortable, quiet space where you won’t be disturbed

Here’s what to do

Create a Sacred Space

Place the candles in front of you, with the black candle on the left and the white or yellow candle on the right. Arrange the rest of your ritual items in any way you choose. You might like to light some incense or play calming music if it helps you feel more at ease.

Grounding

Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths. If you have a crystal, hold it in your hand, feeling its weight and grounding energy. Visualise roots growing from your body, anchoring you deep into the earth, helping you stay calm and centered.

Set Your Intention

Light the black candle and say:”I acknowledge the shadows within, those parts of me that hold fear, doubt and pain. I open my heart to listen, to heal and to grow.” This is your invitation to let hidden feelings or insecurities surface, not to dwell in them, but to understand and release them.

Shadow Work: Writing Exercise
  • Open your journal or shadow work journal and write freely about the fears, doubts, or negative thoughts that come up when you think about your confidence. Be honest and raw—this is a safe space.
  • Reflect on each thought, asking yourself, “Where did this come from?” Did it come from past experiences, societal expectations, or something someone once said to you? This reflection will help you identify the root causes of your insecurity.
Release and Transform
  • Take a moment to read over what you’ve written. Then, say out loud:”I see these shadows for what they are—parts of my past, not my future. I release these fears, these doubts, making space for my true self to shine.”
  • As you speak, visualise these thoughts dissolving into smoke, gently drifting away from you. Feel a sense of release, like a weight being lifted off your shoulders.
Light the Candle of Confidence
  • Now, light the white or yellow candle. As you do, say:”From the darkness, I rise. I embrace my light, my strength and my confidence. I am powerful, capable and resilient.”
  • Imagine a warm, golden light emerging from the candle’s flame, growing brighter and brighter. Visualise this light flowing into your body, filling every corner with warmth and self-assurance. Feel it empowering you and clearing away any lingering doubts.
Energy Work: Channeling Confidence
  • Sit quietly with your eyes closed, focusing on the sensation of warmth from the candle’s flame. Place your hands over your heart and take deep, steady breaths.
  • With each inhale, draw in the light of confidence. With each exhale, release any residual fear or doubt. Repeat this cycle until you feel a sense of calm and empowerment.
Close the Ritual
  • Thank the black candle for helping you confront and release your shadows. Blow it out, symbolising the end of that chapter.
  • Now, thank the white or yellow candle for bringing in confidence and strength. Let it continue to burn for a little while longer, as a beacon of your newfound light. When you need to extinguish it, do so with a sense of gratitude, knowing the energy remains with you.
  • Hold your crystal (if you have one) and visualise it absorbing your confidence, acting as a reminder of your strength whenever you carry it.
Post-Ritual Reflection

Take a moment to journal your experience. Write down anything that came up during the ritual, any insights, or any words you spoke that felt particularly powerful. Reflect on how you feel now compared to when you started.

Over the coming days, consider setting small, intentional actions that align with the confidence you’ve cultivated. This could be as simple as speaking up in a meeting, trying something new, or practicing self-compassion when doubts arise.

Feel free to revisit this ritual as needed, especially when you need a reminder of your strength and resilience.

I hope you have found these spells and rituals useful. If you have any questions, drop me a line in the comments below

Blessed be
